Earlier this month, I asked the constituents of the 52nd district how your family has been impacted by COVID-19 and for feedback on our community’s needs at this time. I am so thankful for the many thoughtful responses we received. I want to share the results with you.
The overwhelming majority of survey respondents were concerned about the risks associated with reopening.

I hope that the delayed reopening of Prince William County and the Northern Virginia region is a reassuring step. County leaders will continue to monitor our region’s testing rates and reevaluate our readiness next week.
Some survey respondents mentioned concerns regarding the safety and functioning of our public transportation infrastructure. This is an important issue to address, and I will be sharing updates on this topic with you as they are made available.
I was inspired by the number of you who described being more concerned for our neighbors in the district than for yourself and feeling grateful despite the necessary social distancing measures. As always, I am proud to be a member of the 52nd district and honored to represent our caring and resilient community.
The issues that received the most interest were: Access to testing, personal protective equipment (PPE), and protecting the highest-risk Virginians. In your comments, many of you laid out serious concerns with workplace safety. Based on this feedback, my office will be launching an initiative to provide testing and PPE to home health care providers and employees of long-term care facilities. As a workplace safety measure, adequate testing and PPE will help our long-term and home care workers safely care for our most vulnerable.
