It is officially summer, and I hope you to are prepared for what I anticipate will be an eventful time. We have much to look forward to today.

Read on for information on the Crisis Receiving Center, the 2023 summer reading series, the June primaries, and to see my latest campaign endorsement!

Crisis Receiving Center Dedication

Last month, Governor Glenn Youngkin, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors, and community leaders held a community dedication ceremony for the new crisis receiving center.

The center is expected to be complete in late 2024 and will have sixteen 23-hour observation units and sixteen crisis residential beds where adults in mental health crises can stay. When completed, the center will also have eight 23-hour observation units and eight crisis residential beds for youth.

It will be the first of its kind in Virginia to co-locate community service programs in one place to create a “no wrong door” community model to serve those in mental health crises who can walk in to receive assessments and services. It will also house eight Community Services programs; including Access services, Trauma services, New Horizons Youth services, Assertive Community Treatment, Peer Drop-In Services, Medication Assisted Treatment, Drug Offender Recovery Services, and PATH/Homeless Services.

Prince William Public Libraries Summer Reading Series

This year’s summer reading series will focus on the theme, “All Together Now,” highlighting literature that promotes kindness, friendship, and unity.  There are programs for every age, from game cards uniquely designed for Babies and Toddlers, Preschool-Grade 5, and Grades 6 – 12 to reading challenges for adults.

You can register for the program between June 20th – August 20th by visiting any of the 12 libraries in Prince William or online at pwcva.gov/library
