We’ve had a lot going on in the past month, and much more lies ahead. While General Assembly has gaveled out of the 2023 Veto Session, our work continues.

I-95 Southbound Auxiliary Lane

On April 27th, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) and representatives from Prince William County opened the new one-and-a-half-mile auxiliary lane on I-95 southbound from Route 123 (Gordon Boulevard) to Prince William Parkway (Route 294). Major project benefits include a new paved shoulder; relocated noise walls; new roadway lighting; new and upgraded guardrails; and new retaining walls.

Senator Scott Surovell, Senator Jeremy McPike, Delegate Luke Torian, Supervisor Ken Boddye, and staff representing Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger and VDOT cut the ribbon for the opening of the new auxiliary lane.

New Driver’s Licenses and ID Cards

The Department of Motor Vehicles will begin issuing newly designed driver’s licenses and ID cards. The current design has been in place since 2009.

The new credentials will display some of the same features and incorporate the next generation of enhanced security features that are resistant to counterfeiting. The new look will feature symbols of Virginia, including the awe-inspiring rotunda dome inside the Virginia State Capitol, the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly, Virginia’s official insect, and the American Dogwood, the state flower.

To apply for and renew a Virginia driver’s license, you can do so at www.dmv.virginia.gov. You may also visit our local DMV at 2731 Caton Hill Road, Woodbridge, VA 22192, between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Monday through Friday).

Potomac Yard Metro Opening

Starting May 19th, there will be a new metro stop for riders. The station, located in the fastest growing area of Alexandria, is between Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Braddock Road stations serving the Blue and Yellow lines. Potomac Yard will be Metro’s 98th station and is Metro’s second infill station, built between existing stations. The station benefits Northern Virginia and the surrounding communities, including walkable access to regional transportation systems for residents in the city’s northeast area.

24th District Election

I am proud to announce that I have filed all the required paperwork and am the official Democratic candidate for the 24th District. I am thankful for my family and all who have supported me throughout the past 14 years of service as your Delegate. I am eager to continue fighting on behalf of Prince William County residents and I look forward to resuming Democratic control of the House of Delegates.
