Happy September! I hope the month has begun on a positive note for you, especially with the recent celebration of Labor Day. This holiday serves as a thoughtful reminder to recognize and honor the countless individuals who work tirelessly to contribute Prince William County. Their dedication is an inspiration for all of us to strive for a better tomorrow.
As Prince William County kicks off a new school year, September brings many wonderful opportunities. I’m happy to share some of them with you in our newsletter and look forward to what lies ahead for the 24th District this month.
Early Voting
Virginia’s voting season starts on September 20th and we have several important races on our ballot this year including the United States Senate, all 11 United States House of Representatives, President and Vice President. Prince William County residents may cast their vote early Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (and 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays).
Select early voting weekend dates include, Saturdays from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on October 19th, October 26th & November 2nd, and Sundays from 11:00 am to 5:00 PM October 13th & October 20th at any of the below locations:

Curbside voting is available for seniors and voters with disabilities at all in-person voting locations in designated parking spaces. Drive-thru voting is not available.

House and Senate Page Program
Applications are now open for the 2025 Virginia House of Delegates and Virginia Senate Page Program! The Virginia General Assembly Page Programs are open to 13- and 14-year-olds and provide an immersive 45-day educational opportunity to learn firsthand how the Virginia General Assembly operates while in session.
This experience offers a fun and dynamic way for students to participate in the legislative process with hands-on experience like staffing committee meetings, interacting with state legislators, and drafting their own bills for a mock trial with their peers. Students in the page program will develop a variety of essential skills while fostering long-lasting relationships with other civic-minded peers.

The Solheim Cup
Prince William County is set to host the Solheim Cup at the acclaimed Robert Trent Jones Golf Club from September 10th to the 15th, 2024.
This international event will feature the top 12 women golfers from the United States competing against the top 12 from Europe, drawing in thousands of visitors and generating significant economic benefits for the county.
This event is anticipated to attract more than 150,000 spectators, many of whom will be staying in local hotels, dining in local restaurants and shopping in the area.
For those attending, all public parking for the event will be at Jiffy Lube Live, with all ride shares directed there as well, and attendees will be bussed to the course.
The event will also include military flyovers scheduled for approximately 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, and 7:15 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 13.
Residents and businesses near the golf course should prepare for increased traffic starting on Tuesday, Sept. 10. Traffic is expected to be particularly heavy on the peak days of Sept. 13, 14, and 15, bringing the most traffic centered around the entrance to the Lake Manassas community and Jiffy Lube Live.

Prince William County Career Expo
Prince William County Government is excited to announce its second Career Expo, a premier networking and hiring event designed to connect job seekers with diverse career opportunities within the county.
The Expo will take place on Saturday, September 21, from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Hylton Performing Arts Center.
This expo showcases the various county services and the career opportunities available and is open to all individuals interested in exploring employment with Prince William County Government. Whether you are an experienced professional looking for a full-time career move or just entering the workforce, the county has positions that may interest you, including apprenticeships, internships, seasonal and part-time positions and volunteer opportunities.
The event will feature hiring managers, current employees and personnel staff from over 20 county departments who have extensive knowledge about career opportunities and county services. These representatives will be available for interviews and discussions, offering attendees insights into the required skills and experience for success in various job roles.

Hispanic Heritage Month
From September 15th to October 15th, we proudly celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. Our Commonwealth and our nation, are enriched by the hard work, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities. I am honored to represent Prince William County, where one of our largest and most vibrant populations is Hispanic and Latino.
I invite you all to join me in celebrating the rich culture, art, and history of our Hispanic and Latino community members who make Prince William County a brighter and more diverse place to live.
Suicide Prevention Month
September is Suicide Prevention Month, a time focused on raising awareness about suicide and reducing the stigma of mental health issues. Let us join together in fostering positive conversations around mental health.
I encourage you all to participate in events that spread suicide awareness, such as the Prince William County 5K Walk for Awareness this Sunday, September 8th. To register for the 5k, please click here.
Additionally, join the National Institute of Mental Health for a special livestream event on September 11th from 12:00 PM – 12:30 PM, to ask experts questions in the comment section. The live stream will be on NIMH’s Facebookand Youtube channel.
Each of us can play a pivotal role in saving lives. Let’s work together to improve suicide prevention and support those in need.

Reading to Dogs
Practice reading aloud and make a furry new friend at the library! Join Prince William County Libraries for the opportunity to read to a friendly therapy dog. You can sign up at the children’s desk for your ten-minute slot starting 15 minutes before the program. This program is open to children in grades k-5.
