UVA Health Mammogram Van Ribbon Cutting
Early detection saves lives, and UVA Health is committed to making that care accessible to Virginians, no matter their income or zip code. That’s why the General Assembly partnered with UVA Health to revitalize a mobile mammogram unit, expanding access to life-saving screenings.
On Monday, September 29, I had the honor of joining local leaders and the UVA Health team at the Prince William County Center to highlight this critical investment. The new mobile mammogram unit will now serve more communities across Northern Virginia and the Shenandoah Valley.
I was proud to stand alongside Delegate Briana Sewell, who championed the budget amendment that secured $500,000 to make this project possible. Accessibility is key, and this is a major step toward ensuring more Virginians receive the care they need.

POTS Awareness Month
Before COVID-19, an estimated 3 million Americans were living with POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) , an often invisible illness with no FDA-approved treatment or cure. Today, that number has surged to nearly 10 million, and it continues to rise.
October is POTS Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on this condition and ensure more people recognize the signs and symptoms. Awareness matters because you don’t need to be a doctor to help save someone’s life.

During these uncertain times, my office is prepared to help our constituents affected by mass layoffs and the current government shutdown with resources and guidance. Virginia is home to one of the largest populations of federal employees in the nation. Like many parts of the Commonwealth, the 24th District is being affected as well.

Claim Your Tax Rebate
This year, Virginia will be issuing tax rebates again as a result of actions from the General Assembly. Eligible taxpayers can receive up to $200 if filing individually or up to $400 if filing jointly. To qualify, you must have had a state income tax liability on your 2024 return, and your rebate may be reduced if you already owe money to certain state or local agencies.
If you filed your taxes before July 1, 2025, the state expects to send your rebate by October 15, with most payments arriving by the end of the month. Returns filed by November 3, 2025, will still qualify for the rebate. Payments will be sent the same way you received your 2024 refund: either by direct deposit, where the transaction will appear as “VA DEPT TAXATION VATXREBATE,” or by paper check mailed from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
No extra steps are required to receive the rebate — just make sure your 2024 taxes are filed.

Prince William County reminds all residents and businesses that personal property and business tangible tax payments are due by Monday, Oct. 6, 2025.
You can view and pay your bill online at www.tax.pwcgov.org. If you believe you should have received a tax bill but have not, please contact the Taxpayer Services Office at 703-792-6710 or via email at TaxpayerServices@pwcgov.org.

Halloween Trunk or Treats
Trunk or Treating is an alternative to the door-to-door “trick-or-treating” Halloween tradition. People gather in a designated area with their car trunks festively decorated for Halloween to pass out candy to trunk-or-treaters in a convenient and safe location hosted by schools or community groups.
This October, Prince William County offers numerous Trunk-or-Treat events throughout the County. If you are interested in joining in on the Halloween fun, check out the following Trunk-or-Treat events:

Early Voting in Virginia
Early voting is underway in Virginia! This year’s ballot is a big one, with races for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and all 100 members of the House of Delegates. Virginians don’t have to wait until Election Day, make your plan to vote early and ensure your voice is heard.
Prince William County residents may cast their vote early Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (and 7:00 p.m. on Wednesdays).

NCBW Candidate Forum
Earlier this week, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.’s Prince William Chapter hosted a Meet the Candidate Forum, providing members with an opportunity to hear directly from candidates across the political spectrum. From the statewide ticket to the General Assembly and the Board of Supervisors, candidates shared their visions and outlined the strategies they would implement if elected or re-elected this November. The discussion focused on innovative approaches to breaking down barriers that Black women continue to face in the workforce.
The forum highlighted the importance of civic engagement and ensuring that diverse voices are included in shaping policy decisions at every level of government. By bringing candidates and community members together, the event fostered meaningful dialogue on issues that matter most to Prince William County families and reinforced the Coalition’s commitment to advocacy, leadership, and equity.
