As we start the month of July. I hope everyone enjoyed a great July 4th and stayed cool while enjoying time outside with family and friends. July is a month filled with exciting activities and major announcements.
Dale City Independence Day Parade
On Friday, I joined the Dale City Civic Association and neighbors for the annual Independence Day Parade and Family Fun Day. This long-standing event is a great place to have fun with family and friends, as well as meet your local and state officials. After the parade, the Family Fun Day at the Dale City Commuter Lot featured games, crafts, food, and entertainment.
GoVirginia Grant Award
Part of being the Chair of the House Appropriations Committee is sitting on the GO Virginia Board. GO Virginia is a bipartisan, business-led economic development initiative that supports programs to create more high-paying jobs through incentivized collaboration among business, education, and government, aiming to diversify and strengthen the economy in every region of the Commonwealth.
At our last meeting, we approved George Mason University’s proposal for its Innovation District at the SciTech Campus in Prince William County. This project will drive growth in the life sciences, emerging technologies, aerospace and defense, cybersecurity, and data infrastructure sectors.
Key efforts include supporting early-stage ventures, piloting a soft-landing model for international companies, and launching a Life Sciences Career Accelerator. This initiative aims to position the district as a hub for innovation, workforce development, and attracting global businesses.
Treasurers’ Association of Virginia Award
The Treasurers’ Association of Virginia held its annual conference in June, where local treasurers from across the Commonwealth gathered to promote the application of the highest ethical standards in their offices and endeavors by exchanging methods and ideas to increase efficiency.
During the conference, I was honored with the 2025 Legislator of the Year Award. I am thankful for this recognition and will continue to support our local treasurers and other local constitutional officers in executing their duties for our constituents.
Real Estate Tax
Prince William County’s real estate taxes for the first half of 2025 are due on July 15, 2025. If you haven’t received a tax bill for your property and think you should have, please reach out to the Taxpayer Services Office at (703) 792-6710 or via email at TaxpayerServices@pwcgov.org.
The Taxpayer Services office is open for in-person visits from Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Meanwhile, other Tax Administration services are available from Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
You can make payments electronically at tax.pwcgov.org or by phone at 1-888-272-9829.
Alternatively, you can send payments by mail to P.O. Box 70519, Philadelphia, PA 19176-0519, or visit the Taxpayer Services offices, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at either the Sudley North or Development Services Building.
Virginia Energy Assistance Program’s Cooling Assistance Initiative
Prince William County’s Department of Social Services (DSS) is now accepting applications for the Virginia Energy Assistance Program’s Cooling Assistance initiative. The program, available now through August 15, helps qualifying households offset the cost of keeping their homes cool during the hot summer months.
DSS administers this critical program locally, connecting eligible county residents with assistance that may cover:
- Electric bill payments to operate the cooling equipment
- Repair or purchase of air conditioning units
- Security deposits for utility service
- One-time purchase and installation of central or window AC units
To qualify, households must have a gross income at or below 150% of the federal poverty level and include at least one vulnerable individual, such as an adult aged 60 or older, a child under 6, or a person with a disability.

Parks and Recreation Month
July is Parks and Recreation Month. The National Recreation and Park Association created this month to highlight the essential and powerful role local park and recreation programs play in building stronger, more vibrant, and more resilient communities across the country.
Launched in 1985, this year marks the 40th anniversary of Parks and Recreation Month! This year’s theme is “Build Together, Play Together!” and we invite you to join us in celebrating by exploring our various programs, events, and activities throughout the month.

June Primary Results
On June 17th, Virginia held primary elections to determine the official party nominees for the upcoming general election on November 4th, 2025.
I am thrilled to announce that I am officially the Democratic nominee for the 24th House of Delegates District. I look forward to continuing my commitment to my constituents and bringing their voices with me to Richmond.
