24th District May Newsletter - Delegate Luke Torian

As we step into May, there’s a lot happening across Prince William County — from early voting for the upcoming primary election to community events and local spring activities, there’s plenty to explore and enjoy nearby.

General Assembly Updated

On May 2nd, Governor Youngkin returned his final actions on the budget and legislation the General Assembly sent back to him during our reconvened session last month. Of 57 House Bills and 33 Senate Bills, we sent back to the Governor for reconsideration. He signed 54 of them and rejected the remaining 38.

I am happy to note that he did sign my House Bill 1600, also known as the Commonwealth’s operating budget. While the budget signed by Governor Youngkin does not include every priority we fought for, it reflects the determined efforts of House and Senate Democrats to deliver meaningful progress for Virginians. This budget makes critical investments across the Commonwealth, in education, public safety, and economic opportunity, and reaffirms our commitment to putting Virginia’s families first.

2025 Early Voting

Election season is right around the corner! The 2025 Primary election will be held on Tuesday, June 17th. Prince William County residents will have the opportunity to vote for their nominee representative in the House of Delegates as well as Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General.

Early in-person voting begins on Friday, May 2nd, and runs through Saturday, June 14th.

Residents may cast their vote early, 8:30 am-4:30 pm on weekdays (8:30 am – 7:00 pm on Wednesdays) and 8:30 am – 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 7th and 14th, and 11:00 am – 5:00 pm Sunday, June 8th at the locations below:

Real ID Requirement

Starting May 7th, the federal government will require you to present a REAL ID compliant driver’s license or ID card, or another federally approved form of ID, in order to board a domestic flight or enter a secure federal facility or military base.

The new credentials will display some of the same features and incorporate the next generation of enhanced security features that are resistant to counterfeiting. A REAL ID features symbols of Virginia, including the awe-inspiring rotunda dome inside the Virginia State Capitol, the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly, Virginia’s official insect, and the American Dogwood, the state flower.

To apply for and renew a Virginia driver’s license, you can do so at www.dmv.virginia.gov. You may also visit our local DMV at 2731 Caton Hill Road, Woodbridge, VA 22192, between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Monday through Friday).

Spring Events

Prince William County is bursting with vibrant spring events this May, offering residents and visitors a delightful array of activities to enjoy the season. From nature explorations and historical tours to family-friendly crafts and wellness initiatives, there’s something for everyone to celebrate the bloom of spring.

Here are some of the exciting events you can participate in:

Spring into Nature: Experience the beauty of the season with this nature-focused event on May 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at 14300 Minnieville Rd, Dale City, VA.
Family Archery: Join in on the fun of archery with the whole family on May 3, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Location details are available on the county’s events page.
Youth Wellness Conference: High school-aged youth are invited to a wellness conference on May 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the James J. McCoart Building, 1 County Complex Court, Woodbridge, VA.
Dainty Daisy Spring Craft: Get creative with a spring-themed craft session on May 14, 2025, at 10:30 AM. Sign up at the front desk to reserve your spot.

2025 Summer Camps

Registration for the 2025 Summer Camps offered by the Prince William County – Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department is now open. Programming includes specialty camps from arts and sports to full-day traditional-style summer camps with popular weekly themes for ages 3-17 at 16 locations throughout Prince William County.

Endorsement Alert

As we begin the 2025 election cycle here in Virginia, I am happy to announce that we have our first round of endorsements! The Virginia Education Association (VEA) Fund for Children and Public Education and Moms Demand Action has endorsed my reelection to continue representing Prince William County as the Delegate for residents in the 24th District.
